The Orpheus American concert

Americana Sampler To get the official 35th anniversary season off with a bang, the opening concert will feature guest artists: Evo Bluestein and the Bad Boys Zydeco playing American blues, Appalachian folk tunes, and Cajun and Zydeco music from New Orleans.

Orpheus will begin the afternoon with a sampling of works by American classical composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Composers who established a solid American tradition and who were powerful influences for later generations. Familiar names like Scott Joplin, Edward MacDowell, Horatio Parker, Arthur Foote, Aaron Copland, Ruth Crawford-Seeger, and Henry Cowell will be performed.
